Remove duplicate email addresses without sorting
When two contact lists overlap, sorting them is not always useful. You may need to retain the order in which the addresses were collected. Remove duplicate lines keeps the first copy of each line in its original position.
1. Put one address on each line
Copy a single column of addresses, or prepare a text list with one address per line. Paste it into Original text. Remove duplicates is already selected.
Original list
robin@example.com sam@example.com robin@example.com lee@example.com sam@example.com
Result
robin@example.com sam@example.com lee@example.com
Trim item edges removes spaces before and after each address. Ignore empty items removes blank rows. Both options are selected by default.
2. Decide how to handle capitalization
Case sensitive is on by default: Robin@example.com and robin@example.com remain separate. Turn it off only when you intend to treat those spellings as the same item. The first spelling stays in the result.
Duplicate removal compares whole lines. An address on its own and an address with a display name are different items. This tool does not extract addresses, validate mailboxes or decide whether two addresses belong to the same person.
3. Review and copy the result
Check the first and last entries, capitalization and any lines containing names or multiple addresses. Copy result copies the cleaned list; Download saves a text file. For a single line separated by commas, use Column to comma-separated list.
Text is processed in your browser. This tool does not upload, save automatically or send the addresses.
